Cadiz City dancers John Ray Alipar and Shandel Revalez bested 24 other contestants from different cities and municipalities of Negros Occidental, in the Latin and Juvenile Dancesport Competition held at NOMPAC gym, last April 22, in celebration with the 16th Panaad Sa Negros Festival 2009.
Eighteen-year-old John Ray Alipar, who was also the grand champion in Panaad Sa Negros 2008 Latin Dancesport Competition, received a cash incentive of P15,000.00. He shared the winning amount with Revalez.
Other winners were: Isabela, 2nd place; Binalbagan, 3rd place; Bago City, 4th place; Valladolid, 5th place; and Sagay City, 6th place. Isabela and Binalbagan received P10,000.00 and P7,000.00 respectively while Bago City, Valladolid and Sagay City got P2,000.00 each.
Michael Angelo Marquez and Stephanie Sabalo, Panaad Champions in Dancesport Competitions last 2004, 2005 and 2006 also graced the occasion. They presented a dance number.
Members of the board of judges were: Harold Dalumpines, president of Dancesport Federation of Western Visayas, Inc; and spouses Ronnie Steeve Vergara and Charlea (Chanda) Lagaras, 3-time champions of the Philippines Dancesport Competition and represented the country in the Asian Dancesport Championship in 2003 and World Games 2009 in Taipei.
Joy Pastoral, an executive secretary of the Kapisanan ng mga Broadcaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) and radio announcer of DYVS 1233 AM Station and Danilo Alingaya, an education student from the Colegio de San Agustin-Bacolod City, hosted the competition./*
