Info Post

Mayor Patrick G. Escalante, Honorary Chair for the Literacy Coordinating Council; Mr. Roel F. Bermejo, OIC, Division of Schools Superintendent and vice chair for LCC; and Vice Mayor Samson C. Mirhan had convened in a  meeting last Tuesday, April 10, at the Cadiz Speech Room.

The conference was presided over by Mr. Bermejo, who, together with members constituting a quorum, formed the working committees and went into strategic planning in preparation for the upcoming National Literacy Awards search come April 30, 2012.

Last year, Cadiz City placed third on same selection garnering high points on the chief executive’s programs on eradicating illiteracy through sustainable projects centered among the grassroots.

Entries to the National Literacy Award shall contain programs and projects that have been initiated and successfully implemented by municipalities and cities all over the Philippines.

The vision to ‘formulate policies and coordinate national efforts towards the development of literacy skills for lifelong learning in a global society/community’ is depicted and reflected through programs and projects by the LGU shown in the results. These results shall be judged by the Regional Selection Committee (RSC).

This year, the Cadiz City Literacy Coordinating Council is hopeful for another feather to its already decorated cap, that the National Literacy Council would come to appreciate what efforts have been exerted  to realize the vision and reach the goal./*
