The Multi-million Cadiz City Commercial Port, a pet project of the City Government of Cadiz is now operational. It is situated in Barangay Banquerohan, this City.

t shipping lines that docked at exactly 10:00 o’clock in the morning of April 19, 2011 from Bantayan to Cadiz and vice versa.

The M/V Margarita Shipping Lines is owned and operated by the Cadiznon Pablo Sarabia, Sr. It has a capacity of 100 passengers and is scheduled to cruise from Cadiz to Bantayan and vice versa for twice a day starting today. It has a fare of P250.00 for economy in the lower deck and P270 for the upper deck.

City Mayor Escalante, in his message, said “to the people of Negros and the nearby provinces, I am proud to announce that the Cadiz City Commercial Port which is 100 percent owned by the people of Cadiz, is now open for business. This will eventually help boost our economy and increase employment in the City”.

The Mayor also announced that more shipping vessels are expected to come and one of them is the route from Batangas to Cadiz and vice versa.

Among those who witnessed the historic docking of the first vessel in the City’s newly inaugurated commercial port were: City Vice Mayor Samson Mirhan; City Councilors Dr. Abiezer Bacomo, Antonio Lacson III, Denia Puey Hinolan, Vicente William Tabanao, Wilfredo Cervantes and Juan Musa; Lin-ay Sang Negros 2011 First Runner–up and Dinagsa Queen 2011 Angela Joy Johns; City Budget Officer Vicente Napoles; CPDO Officer Melecio Bacomo; CHO Officer Dr. Merle Jane Regalado; City Engineer Lauro Napud; other department heads; media men; and, the residents of Brgy.
