Cadiz has prided itself as John Becaro, a resident of Cadiz who successfully broke in the world of digital art both in Manila and abroad, recently conducted a two-day art workshop on comic art, including penciling and coloring, last April 7-8, at the SGE Building in the Cadiz East I Elementary School.
Sponsored by Mayor Salvador G. Escalante Jr., the art lecture registered a total of about 140 students from different schools within Cadiz. It was also in cooperation with the City Tourism Office, City Cultural Office, Delta Omega Fraternity, Tukib Group of Artists, Lapis Ko To and the Guhit Pinoy.
Becaro, who graduated Bachelor of Fine Arts at La Consolacion College – Bacolod and is now a professional comic artist/ creator and international concept illustrator, expressed that a lot of people in Cadiz are potentially talented. “What is lacking is the opportunity to discover, develop and improve them’, he said.
His artworks are blogged at www.johnbecaro.deviantart.com.
Other resource speakers included Mark Devera who is a professional comic artist and Japanese Manga illustrator, international graphic artist and member artist of the Brewed Art.com; Jake Bilbao, a professional comic artist and penciller in various USA publishers; and, Edbon Sevillino, an art director of Afkar in Riyadh (UAEE), founder of Guhit Pinoy International and Global Illustrators’ Guild of the Philippines, painter and international professional illustrator./*
