“Despite being recognized as a third world country, Philippines has become notorious as a digital hotspot, living to its reputation as one of the nations with the most number of Friendster, Facebook and Multiply account subscribers”.

That’s how Cristine Vista, a senior student of Special Science and Technology Class (SSTC) of Dr. Vicente F. Gustilo Memorial National High School, outlined her first paragraphed during the On-the-spot Editorial Writing Contest last July 2, 2PM, at the SP Session Hall in Cadiz City. She was adjudged first place and received P1,500.00 cash plus trophy

Eufranz Pedrosa of SPED High School landed second place. He got P1,000.00 cash plus trophy. While Joe Reyl Ogapong also of SPED High School bagged the third place and got P800.00 cash plus trophy.

The ten consolation prizes are given to Terry Tio, DRVFGMNHS; Jicel Mae Alparito, HIA; Monic Beche Lucente, SPED High School; Trixia Anne Zapater, SPED High School; Princess Kuan, HIA; Kurtlen Majarucon, HIA; Jovi Becaro, DRVFGMNHS; Jo Emmanuelle de Leon, SPED High School; Sophia Marie Gillana, PNU CTL; and Cristy Vista, DRVFGMNHS.

The City Information Office (CIO), as an added push to the 43rd Charter Day Anniversary, sponsored an on-the-spot editorial writing contest for all high school students of any secondary school within Cadiz City and/ or under the supervision of Schools Division.

The winning editorial article will be used as official opinion piece for the upcoming magazine edition of the Cadiz Bulletin, the official publication of the City Government of Cadiz. The CB is maintained and edited by the CIO.

With the editorial title “Cadiz at 43: Facing the Challenges of the Digiworld”, the on-the-spot editorial writing contest registered a total of 36 students from around five high schools. These are: Holy Infant Academy, 10 participants; SPED High School, 10; PNU-CTL, 5; Dr.VFGMNHS, 8; and, Caduhaan National High School, 3./*
