Hitalon tribe, dancing with its tribal ethnic combo style, swept seven other tribes vying for the award, triumphed as the over-all champion and received P 50,000.00 plus trophy during the 37th Dinagsa Festival street dance competition held last January 30,2011.

Tribu Hitalon, which was headed by three clustered Barangay Captains Dino Hautea - Zone 6, Juvy Becaro -Zone 1 and Dionesio Villaruz - Cadiz Viejo, also bagged the Best in Sound and Best in Performance with P5, 000.00 each.

Bulawanon Tribe, a clustered Brgys of. Zone 3, Mabini and Tinampaan whose costume is made of indigenous materials such as bamboo strip, shells and fish nets and its headdress is inspired by coral leaves and sea weeds with sea horse, captured the First runner up and took P40,000 and trophy.

Bulawanon, which consist of 70 warriors and dancers mostly came from Querosan Tribe bagged the Best in Costume and Best in Discipline and received P5, 000 for each award.

Last year’s champion Bobucad tribe (Brgy.Burgos, Bonifacio, Caduhaan) romped off second runner-up, Yab-yab Doongol of Zone 5, Zone 2 and VF Gustilo landed on the third runner –up and fourth runner up went to Tibanda Tribe of Brgys.Tiglawigan, Banquerohan and Daga. . The winners from second to 4th runner ups received P30, 000.00, P 25,000.00 and P15, 000.00 respectively.

Mayor Patrick Escalante in his remarks thanked the local and foreign visitors and revelers who came and crowded along Cabahug Street and at the grandstand near the city hall, just to witness and joined the celebration announced that Cadiz Dinagsa Festival has been adjudged as the first runner up for the “Best Tourism Event “in the whole country.

”That makes us all proud considering that we won over to more than 2,000 municipalities and cities and our festival will be broadcast/ covered live nationwide via satellite. That’s why we should be proud as Cadiznon that our city become well-known because of our Dinagsa Festival”, the mayor said.

Mayor Patrick added that he kept on telling some people to come to witness city’s festival to experience Dinagsa and understand it, to experience the Sto. De Cadiz and to experience Cadiz.

Members of the board of judges in three performance areas were Lilybeth Eslabon, Mario Gabuya, Xenia Guanzon, Alma Jago, Jennylind Cordero, Provincial Tourism Officer, Ver Pacete, Tourism Officer of Silay City, Hernani Cabahaga, Instructor from Nonescost, Sheri Faye Delos Santos, and Kenneth Benignos, Tourism Officer of Escalante City./*
