Mayor Salvador G. Escalante Jr. opened the 35th Dinagsa Festival 2009 competition last January 25 at the Dr. Vicente F. Gustilo Memorial National High School, as the Bobucad Tribe bagged off the grand prize award when it bested 7 other contenders.

Bobucad romped away with a P50,000.00 cash plus trophy. It also obtained the Best in Sound and Best in Performance awards. The tribe is an entry from Barangays Bonifacio, Burgos and Caduhaan.

Second place award went to Bulawanon Tribe who received P40,000.00 cash plus trophy. It was likewise chosen as Best in Costume. The tribe comes from a cluster of Barangays Tinampaan, Zone 3 and Mabini.

The last year’s champion, Yab-Yab Doongol Tribe of Barangays Zone 5, Cadiz Viejo and VF Gustilo, settled to third placer. It got P30,000.00 cash plus trophy. It was also declared as Most Disciplined.

While the Tibanda Tribe of Barangays Tiglawigan, Banquerohan and Daga, landed fourth place; and, Querosan Tribe of Barangays Zone IV, Luna and Sicaba, fifth place. Each was given P25,000.00 and P15,000.00 cash plus trophies, respectively.

Other contesting tribes included the Majeca Tribe of Barangays Cabahug, Magsaysay and Jerusalem; Tambon Tribe of Barangays Zone I, Zone 2 and C Villacin; and Hitalon Tribe of Barangay Zone VI.
