“Save the last for best”.

That’s how Mayor Salvador G. Escalante Jr. remarked on the grand finals of the ‘Star Ka Sa Cadiz 2010” last January 30, at the jam-packed Don Bernardo L. Benedicto Community Center in Cadiz City.

“This is the best of all’, Mayor Escalante declared, referring to the grand event. He admired of the show’s highly-creative, innovative and artistic presentation.

According to Mayor, the event was innovated with splendid direction, including technical details on stage and on the over-all production.

He also thanked the staff and personnel of the City Information Office for the tremendous success the event has ever achieved. “It has added push to the 36th Dinagsa Festival 2010”, he added.

The CIO and a pool of creative minds employed some multimedia outputs with a touch of uniqueness to the “Star” production.

The CIO has been the city government department being tapped to plan out, implement and supervise the program on the “Star Ka Sa Cadiz 2010” for five- month duration. It is the longest-running program the City ever has ever initiated so far.

As cultural and information project of the City Government of Cadiz, Mayor Escalante Jr. launched the “Star Ka Sa Cadiz 2010” last September 5, 2009 and culminated during the 36th Dinagsa Festival 2010 on January 30, 2010.

It is a weekly contest on three categories, namely, hip-hop dance, singing and name-a-song. All weekly winners competed in the monthly finals, and all monthly winners competed in the grand finals.

The grand winners on singing contest are: Romar Banyola (Champion), Rowela Cordova (First Place), Joyce Anne Barbas (Second Place), Thesalie Joy Leonoras (Third Place), Michelle Calderon (Fourth Place), and Marvy Esperancilla (Fifth Place).

Hip-hop dance contest: Fusion X-treme (Champion), Delta Heat Waves (First Place), Disciples of Zidac (Second Place), PNU Dance Guild (Third Place) and, Techno Sight (Fourth Place). Name-a-song contest: Al Contreras (Champion), Jojo Banez, Ruben Pedrano and Tyrone Bermejo.

Romar Banyola and the Fusion X-treme represented Cadiz City in the 17th Panaad Sa Negros Festival 2010 Negros Music Festival and Pop Dance Competition, respectively, on March 20-27, 2010./ *
